Cash on delivery is not a niche payment option in the Middle East — for many online shoppers in the Gulf and beyond, paying the courier at the door is the normal way to buy online. That makes the region one of the world's most active COD ecommerce markets, and it makes sourcing a strategic function: the seller pre-pays stock and freight, and only collects revenue on accepted deliveries. This guide explains how COD sellers in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and neighboring markets source products from China — product selection, conformity and Arabic labeling, quality control, and DDP shipping to your warehouse or fulfillment partner.
Many shoppers in the region prefer to see and touch a product before paying, and card penetration for online purchases historically lagged behind cash habits. Regional ecommerce stores and courier companies therefore built COD into their standard checkout: order online, receive the parcel, pay at the door. For the seller, the model works — but only with discipline. You finance the stock, the freight, and the delivery attempt before any revenue arrives, and refused parcels return at your expense. Product cost, product quality, and delivery reliability decide the profit.
The largest COD ecommerce markets in the region are the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, followed by Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, and Bahrain in the Gulf, with Egypt and Jordan also running large COD-based ecommerce scenes. SEALAND ships DDP from China to the Gulf gateways of Jebel Ali (Dubai), Jeddah Islamic Port, King Abdulaziz Port (Dammam), and Hamad Port (Qatar), with door delivery to warehouses and fulfillment centers in the destination countries. The corridor mechanics are described in our blog guide to DDP shipping from China to the Middle East.
The universal COD rules apply — demonstrable in a short video, light and compact, durable, with a margin that survives delivery fees and a realistic refusal rate — tuned to regional demand:
Two checkpoints matter before you order stock, not after it lands:
Saudi Arabia — SABER. Saudi Arabia runs product conformity through the SABER platform. Many regulated categories require registration and certification (a product certificate and shipment certificate) before import. Selling into Saudi without checking your category first is the most common expensive mistake for new COD sellers.
UAE and Gulf conformity. The UAE and other Gulf states apply conformity requirements to regulated goods such as electrical products, toys, and cosmetics. Requirements depend on the product category and its HS code.
Arabic labeling. Many consumer products must carry Arabic labeling — product name, instructions, warnings, ingredients where relevant, and country of origin. Arranging this with the supplier in China, at print or sticker stage, is far cheaper than relabeling a warehouse full of cartons at destination. SEALAND checks these requirements with suppliers before production and flags what your product needs for its destination market.
1. Share the product. Send a link, photos, or a description. We identify suppliers in the Yiwu International Trade Market, on 1688 and Alibaba, or in the right factory cluster — a China sourcing agent compares showroom, wholesaler, and factory pricing for you.
2. Compare real options. Supplier options come back with unit prices, MOQs, and lead times, so you can model your COD margin before committing.
3. Approve samples. Check the actual product, its retail packaging, and how it photographs and films for your ads.
4. Confirm conformity and labeling. SABER or other registrations, plus Arabic labeling, are arranged before or during production — not at the port.
5. Inspect, consolidate, and ship DDP. The production run is inspected to AQL standards, goods from multiple suppliers are consolidated, and the cargo ships DDP to your warehouse or 3PL in the destination country.
A COD customer who dislikes what arrives simply refuses the parcel — and refusal is more expensive than a prepaid return, because no revenue was ever collected. Defects, wrong specifications, and packaging that looks cheaper than the ad all convert directly into lost delivery fees. SEALAND's pre-shipment inspections apply AQL sampling with defect classification, function testing, and packaging checks, documented with photos and video before you pay the balance. Read more in our quality control and pre-shipment inspection guide.
Under DDP (Delivered Duty Paid), one all-in price covers factory pickup in China, export clearance, international freight, destination customs clearance with duties and taxes paid, and door delivery to your warehouse or fulfillment partner. For Gulf destinations, ocean freight from major Chinese ports typically takes about 12–18 days port to port — one of the fastest sea corridors from China — while air freight serves launches and urgent restocks in days. Because the Gulf is a short sea hop from China compared with Europe or the Americas, Middle East COD sellers can run leaner stock and reorder more often, which is a structural advantage worth using.
The seller's own local courier or fulfillment partner collects the payment at the customer's door and settles it to the seller. SEALAND's role is the China side: sourcing your products, verifying suppliers, confirming conformity and Arabic labeling, inspecting quality, consolidating cargo, and delivering it DDP to your warehouse or 3PL in the Middle East. SEALAND does not itself collect cash on delivery in the Gulf or elsewhere — our job is to make sure the stock behind your offers is right, compliant, and on schedule. Selling COD in Europe as well? Yiwu Sealand Import & Export Co., Ltd. is based in Yiwu, China, beside the world's largest small-commodities market, and already runs established DDP corridors to the Middle East. For COD sellers we combine in one contract: sourcing across the Yiwu market, Guangzhou's wholesale markets and the Canton Fair, 1688, Alibaba, and factory clusters; supplier verification and negotiation; samples; conformity and Arabic-labeling coordination; AQL quality inspection with photo and video proof; multi-supplier consolidation; and DDP shipping to the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, and Oman. Our team works in English, Arabic, French, and Chinese — useful when your customers write in Arabic, your ads run in Arabic, and your suppliers answer in Chinese. Selling on Amazon instead? Our Amazon FBA sourcing from China guide covers that model end to end.

Yes. SEALAND sources products in China and ships them DDP to COD sellers in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, and other Middle East markets. SEALAND's role is sourcing, quality control, consolidation, and freight. The cash itself is collected at the customer's door by the seller's own local courier or fulfillment partner — SEALAND does not collect cash on delivery.
We deliver DDP to the main Gulf markets — the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, and Oman — through gateways such as Jebel Ali, Jeddah, Dammam, and Hamad Port, with final delivery to your warehouse or 3PL. Jordan and other regional destinations are available on request; ask us about your specific country and city.
Ocean freight from major Chinese ports to Arabian Gulf ports typically takes about 12–18 days port to port, plus several days for consolidation, customs clearance, and final delivery. Air freight is the fast option for urgent restocks and launches, reaching Gulf hubs in days rather than weeks.
SABER is Saudi Arabia's product conformity platform. Many regulated product categories must be registered in SABER and certified before they can be imported into Saudi Arabia. Whether your product is regulated depends on its category and HS code, so the time to check is before you order stock, not when the container arrives. SEALAND verifies product requirements with suppliers and flags conformity steps before shipment.
Yes. Many consumer products sold in the Middle East require Arabic labeling — product name, instructions, warnings, and country of origin. We coordinate with suppliers so retail packaging and cartons are printed or stickered with the required Arabic information in China, before the goods ship, instead of being relabeled at destination.
Send us the product you want to sell — a marketplace link, photos, or a description is enough. We return supplier options with prices, minimum order quantities, and lead times; you approve samples; we check conformity requirements for your destination, inspect the production run, consolidate your goods, and ship DDP to your warehouse or 3PL. Message us on WhatsApp or by email to start.
